The project consisted of the further development of a 147-acre demonstration forest and education center. The team was a joint venture between Washington State University and Washington State University Co-operative Extension and Washington State 4H foundation. The work included but was not limited to:

  1. Identification and cataloging of 5 distinct native ecosystems.
  2. Map existing trail systems, plan and oversee construction of new trails to link various elements throughout the forest.
  3. Site planning and development for picnic shelter, caretaker’s residence, challenge course and native arboretum.
  4. Develop signage and interpretative brochures for native plants and ecosystems.

The site currently hosts an active challenge course and has continued to serve as a platform for the teaching of environmental stewardship and the exploration of experimental forestry practices.
