The Larson Casteel Company, in conjunction with the Grace Landscape Committee, developed a master plan for the ten acres surrounding Grace Episcopal Church. The primary objective of this plan is to maintain the site’s rural territorial character with a connection and respect for the sites natural elements.

The primary framework for the first phase of this project was to work collaboratively with the Grace Episcopal Committee to design and oversee the construction of a playground & terrace. Through the first phase the Larson Casteel Company met several strict deadlines and achieved program elements within budget.

A major focus for this 10-acre site is the development of a “Native Arboretum”. The specific intent of the Native Arboretum is to focus primarily on plants found within various cultural associations based on soil types and exposure’s found within our region expanding from Southern Alaska to Northern California. Ornamental plants, although not the primary focus of the committee shall be introduced based on their cultural and or spiritual values.

An important component of the master plan is the trail system. The proposed trail system would traverse throughout the site providing a continuous link to various activity spaces such as a: fire-pit, labyrinth, and working garden. Interpretive signs and a challenge course will serve as educational opportunities along the trail. The trail system also allows parishioners and community members a walking path for meditation and reconnection to the natural environment.

The master plan developed by The Larson Casteel Company will uphold the objectives and continuity of the Grace parish over a period of time as the project is developed area by area for successive generations to come.
