Rememberance Panel Detail |
The men and women of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe have a rich and dedicated history of serving in various branches of the U.S. Military.
Since the 1980’s a gathering for the member Veteran’s is held each Veteran’s Day. Recently a committee of tribe veterans was formed to work towards developing a permanent memorial.
Our task has been to assist in the development of the physical form of this memorial. As part of the overall master plan, a space outside the existing longhouse will be the permanent home for the remembrance panels. Kept watch by the flanking totem poles. In addition, a Trail of Remembrance will connect to a future flag pavilion outside the administration center.
The first phase of the project is to develop the panels with memorial name plaques and complete the installation. We will be assisting in construction and funding sources as needed.
Phase 1 Dedication Ceremony 11/11/07
