There were many goals for the Master Plan of the S’Klallam Tribe Administration. Circulation throughout the site, both vehicular and pedestrian, needed to be adjusted. For example: the access to the playground was though a busy parking lot and there was not enough parking for the various buildings.
Among the circulation issues, the Tribe also had special requests. There was a desire to create a site for a Veteran’s Memorial and a centralized location for community celebrations. Additionally there was a request to save the large Big-leaf maple tree on the site, to correct drainage issues and grade problems between buildings while revegetating disturbed sites with native plants and creating educational opportunities.
A Veteran's Memorial was developed from this plan and the Phase 1 Dedication Ceremony for it took place on 11/11/07.
