PORTFOLIO - PUBLIC - WOLFLE ELEMENTARY "GROWING GARDENS"
In collaboration with Wolfle Elementary’s Garden Committee, Larson Casteel designed an educational garden for the students and teachers to utilize and enjoy. The school’s goal was to incorporate the following components: art, cultural awareness, the environment, life-long learning, science, respect and responsibility. As the name intends, the garden is to “grow” over a period of time. Phase one includes raised beds with a winter garden. A winter garden was selected due to the schedule of school, no one would be around to care for and learn from a traditional summer garden. Future additions include a storage shed, compost, open areas, berms, pergolas and benches.
