PORTFOLIO - PUBLIC - INDIANOLA BEACH IMPROVEMENT CLUB

The IBIC is a nonprofit community based organization, which manages and guides improvements to community properties, that include the Langley Memorial, Clubhouse, Post Office, Bud Merrill Pavilion and the former Gill Property.

The Indianola community has a well-established 100 year history with multi-generational ties, which creates a passionate community that is invested in the discussions pertaining to the holdings of the IBIC. Since 2004, Larson Casteel has worked in collaboration with the community on several projects, which include:

Clubhouse Renovation (built 1930):  The Indianola Clubhouse is an 80 year old building with a strong collective sense of history. An inspection of the building revealed the buildings foundation to be structurally unsound and major repairs required to bring the building to structural code and ADA compliant. We worked with the board of directors and community to evaluate the condition of the building, create a program for restoration that would retain the history, fundraising plan, construction documentation, construction administration, providing costing and budgeting.

Langley Memorial:  A garden dedicated to a long-  time resident. Design, construction administration, and construction implementation assistance (with volunteer help) were provided, Materials were donated when possible.

The Playground: The playground called for a design workshop with the community. This workshop provided an opportunity to let the community set program elements and provide design input. By involving the community into the design process we established ownership opportunities to be fostered. (Playground design was a collaborative effort with another Landscape Architect.) 

As with all projects, coordination with county officials was conducted to ensure proper code and zoning issues. The many local artists were included in these and other projects whenever possible.

All design services were in-kind and the final construction budget will be determined upon the acceptance of a final design.
